The Marlin 1894 Dark Series (Model 70903) in .44 Remington Magnum calibercombines classic Marlin lever-action technology with modern features for the use of optics and accessories. The current Dark Series is manufactured by Ruger and is based on the proven Marlin 1894 system with side ejection, a solid steel receiver, and a tubular magazine. The combination of traditional lever-action operation and contemporary features makes this rifle suitable for shooters looking for a modern interpretation of the classic lever-action repeater.

The heart of the weapon is the robust Marlin 1894 lever-action systemin .44 Remington Magnum caliber. The rifle can also be used with .44 Specialammunition. The 16.17-inch (41.1 cm) cold hammer-forged barrelmade of alloy steel features a 5/8"-24 muzzle threadand comes factory-equipped with a radial muzzle brake. A thread protector is also included. The cold hammer-forged barrel is designed for consistent barrel geometry and high manufacturing quality.

The Dark Series has been consistently prepared for the use of modern optics. A factory-mounted Picatinny railallows for the mounting of scopes or red dot sights. The equipment is complemented by an adjustable ghost ring sightand a fiber optic front sight with a tritium ring, allowing the rifle to be used with both open sights and optics.

The stock and forend are made of durable nylon-reinforced polymer. The stock features integrated QD sling swivel mounts, an included elevated cheek restfor use with optics, and a generously sized rubber recoil pad. The aluminum forend offers additional M-LOK interfacesfor mounting compatible accessory components.

The main metal parts are finished with a durable Graphite Black Cerakote® coating. The bolt and lever also feature nitriding to increase wear resistance. The tubular magazine offers a capacity of 8 rounds in .44 Magnum caliberor 9 rounds in .44 Special caliber. The rifle features a push-button safety and the traditional half-cock position on the hammer.
