The Marlin 1895 Dark Series (Model 70901)in caliber .45-70 Governmentcombines the classic construction of a lever-action repeater with modern featuresfor the use of optics and accessories. The current Dark Seriesis manufactured by Rugerand is based on the proven Marlin 1895 systemwith side ejection, solid steel receiverand tube magazine. The combination of traditional lever-action technologyand modern equipmentmakes the rifle a versatile platformfor hunting, the shooting range, and use with contemporary optics.

The heart of the weapon is the robust Marlin 1895 lever-action systemin caliber .45-70 Government. The 16.17 inch (41.1 cm) cold hammer-forged barrelmade of alloy steel features an 11/16"-24 muzzle threadand is supplied from the factory with a radial muzzle brake. A thread protectoris also included in the scope of delivery. The cold hammer-forged barrelis designed for consistent barrel geometry and durable use.

The Dark Serieshas been consistently prepared for the use of modern optics. A factory-mounted Picatinny railallows for the mounting of scopes or red dot sights. The equipment is complemented by an adjustable ghost ring sightand a fiber optic front sight with a tritium ring, allowing the weapon to be used with both open sights and optics.

The stock and handguard are made of durable nylon-reinforced polymer. The stock features integrated QD mounts for slings, an included elevated cheek restfor use with optics, and a generously sized rubber buttpad. The aluminum handguardoffers additional M-LOK interfacesfor mounting compatible accessory components.

The main metal parts are treated with a durable Graphite Black Cerakote® coating. The bolt and lever additionally feature nitriding to increase wear resistance. The tube magazine offers a capacity of 5+1 rounds, while the combination of a push-button safetyand traditional half-cock hammerremains true to the classic operating concept of the Marlin series.
